With routes connecting cities, villages, mountain areas and tourist destinations, the NOR-WAY network covers a large part of Southern Norway, including important hubs like Oslo, Bergen, Kristiansand, Stavanger, Lillehammer, Fagernes, Haugesund, Førde and Trysil. By having several operators under a single entity, NOR-WAY offers passengers a seamless and friction-free travel experience across the region.
The Challenge: Coordinating a multi-operator network
NOR-WAY Bussekspress consists of a collaboration between multiple independent bus operators who co-own the organisation. While these operators work together within the NOR-WAY network, they also maintain their own services and commercial strategies.
Such a structure requires a platform capable of supporting this cooperation across the network, while still giving each operator the flexibility to independently manage their own offerings.
At the same time, NOR-WAY wanted to modernise its digital channels and improve the overall passenger experience. They needed a system capable of managing inventory, seat reservations, pricing and ticket distribution across multiple operators, while still scalable and ready for future growth.

NOR-WAY Bussekspress selected S3 Passenger for its operations because it provides inventory management, seat reservations, pricing and ticket distribution in one platform that can be shared by the whole network.
S3 Passenger allows multiple carriers to operate within a single platform, offering the perfect balance between collaboration and autonomy. Each operator can maintain its own commercial strategy while benefiting from a shared platform and unified distribution environment.
A modern passenger experience
The implementation of S3 Passenger was completed in just six and a half months. The project included a phased go-live, starting with in-bus sales before expanding to the entire network.
At the same time, NOR-WAY Bussekspress took the chance to redesign its digital channels: the organisation developed a new website frontend and a bus driver application for onboard sales and validations.
One of the key improvements introduced is seat selection, allowing passengers to choose their seats when booking.
Enabling flexibility and operational efficiency
With S3 Passenger in place, NOR-WAY Bussekspress has now greater flexibility in product offerings and pricing. The organisation is able to tailor their services to customer demands and adapt easily to changing market conditions.
The NOR-WAY network itself is complex, with some routes covering more than 150 stops. Managing such an extensive operation requires advanced capabilities, particularly when it comes to Origin-Destination grouping to ensure efficient planning and accurate forecasting.
The flexibility and configuration-driven approach offered by S3 Passenger made it possible to handle these operational requirements while supporting the needs of multiple operators in the network.

Going live with S3 Passenger represents an important milestone for NOR-WAY Bussekspress. With a modern platform and redesigned digital channels, the organisation will continue to improve its services and passenger experience.
NOR-WAY Bussekspress plans to further enhance its frontend and onboard applications while making use of additional functionalities of S3 Passenger to optimise operations and continue evolving its network.
